Q How did conditions worsen for Europeans in the seventeenth century? How did these events create an economic and demographic crisis? What was the impact on the lower classes, and how did they react?
Absolute monarchy means ruled by one person whose actions are not restricted by any law. The conditions worsened for Europeans in the fifteenth century because of the growing financial crisis that occurred because of the lavish spending of King Louis XIV. He was one ruler who followed absolute monarchy in complete sense. He was called the Sun King. He build his lavish court and was sure to keep an eye on his nobility that was the most dangerous and quarrelsome group in France. He levied the taxes and made the laws without even consulting the Church or any person in authority and declared war and also appointed his favourites. After King Louis XIV many other rulers tried to follow his footsteps but in vain.
